L&T Bags Power Transmission & Distribution Order In Uttar Pradesh By Chitrika Grover/ Updated On Mon, Mar 3rd, 2025 The Power Transmission & Distribution (PT&D) division of Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has secured new orders both in India and internationally. In India, it has been awarded a contract to implement 765kV and 400kV transmission line segments associated with a Renewable Energy Zone in Uttar Pradesh (UP). Before this, the company won an order for the turnkey construction of a 400kV transmission line, aimed at evacuating power from a non-fossil-fuel-based power plant in southern India. International Orders In Abu Dhabi, L&T has received a contract to set up a new 220/33kV grid station, along with associated infrastructure. These repeat orders from PT&D’s longstanding customers highlight the critical role L&T plays in establishing efficient grid infrastructure across regions, thereby accelerating the integration of renewable energy generation. L&T Expands Renewable Energy Portfolio Earlier this year, as part of its renewable energy expansion strategy, L&T was selected as a preferred EPC contractor for the north site of a 24/7 solar and battery energy storage gigascale project. The renewables division of L&T was chosen by Masdar, the UAE’s clean energy leader, as one of the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contractors for the world’s first gigascale project integrating round-the-clock solar PV and battery storage. The project, located in Abu Dhabi, aims to deliver 1 gigawatt (GW) of baseload power 24/7. Masdar, in collaboration with Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC), announced during Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week (ADSW) that it is developing this groundbreaking project, which will feature a 5.2GW (DC) solar photovoltaic (PV) plant, coupled with a 19 gigawatt-hour (GWh) Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). This makes it the largest combined solar and battery storage project in the world. The project will be developed in two sites—North and South, with each contributing 2.6GW of solar PV capacity and 9.5GWh of battery storage.
