Longi Signs 1.5 GW Module Deal With Austrian Firm Energy3000 Solar

In one of the largest such deals in Europe in 2023, Chinese global solar major LONGi and Austrian firm Energy3000 have signed a framework agreement for 1.5 GW of module sales. Energy3000 Solar is primarily a B2B PV wholesaler in Europe, offering a range of brands for its customers across the solar supply chain. , The deal was announced at Intersolar 2023 in Munich, Germany. The deal demonstrates the relative ease of access to the European market as compared to the US market for Chinese majors in recent times, though the US market has also eased up due to supply shortages for Chinese makers in recent months.  Europe is slated to add over 50 GW of solar this year, and most of the equipment will be coming from China for now.

The deal will see LONGi providing solar modules for Energy3000’s projects across Europe. While no financial details were shared, LONGi announced that the modules will include its Hi-MO 6 series, which boasts an efficiency of 23.3%. The Hi-MO 7 series, with an efficiency of 22.5% that it has been exhibiting recently at key fairs, will also be part of the deal. The deal is likely to be spread out over the coming 24 months.

“In the era of terawatt and exponential growth, you need reliable partners on your side to ensure planning security and a speedy implementation of your project pipelines,” said Christian Bairhuber, Energy3000’s CEO.

LONGi has demonstrated a solar module with an efficiency of 33.5% recently, calling it the second most efficient solar cell in the world. Named the 2681 for now , it is more efficient than both Hi-MO series.

For Energy3000 solar, the LONGi deal indicates the bullishness for solar in the European region, it’s main operating area.  In an Indian context, Redington is doing something similar with its solar push using multiple brands it distributes.
