Gujarat-based KPI Green Energy has appointed Surinder Kumar Negi as its new Chief Operating Officer (COO). Negi brings over four decades of experience in the power transmission, renewable energy, and infrastructure development sectors. He has previously held leadership roles at NTPC, POWERGRID, ALSTOM, Reliance Energy, Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation (GETCO), and Skipperseil Ltd.

As Managing Director of Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation (GETCO), he added 830 new substations and 21,300 km of transmission lines, expanding Gujarat’s power grid to support over 23,000 MW of generation capacity.  Under his leadership, GETCO invested over ₹12,000 crore in infrastructure development, achieving industry-leading transmission losses below 4% and improving system availability to 99.6%.

At KPI Green Energy, Negi will focus on scaling renewable energy projects, strengthening the company’s transmission infrastructure, and expanding its domestic and international footprint. His expertise in large-scale project execution, grid integration, and operational excellence will be instrumental in KPI Green Energy’s next growth phase.

Faruk Patel, Chairman and Managing Director of KPI Green Energy, stated: “Negi’s wealth of experience in power infrastructure and project execution will be invaluable as we scale our solar, hybrid, and transmission projects. His leadership will ensure that KPI Green Energy continues to set new benchmarks in innovation, efficiency, and sustainability.”

Alok Das, Group CEO of KP Group, added: “Mr. Negi’s deep expertise in power transmission and renewable energy, combined with his strong leadership in grid modernization and smart energy solutions, makes him an ideal fit for KPI Green Energy’s expansion strategy. His ability to deliver high-impact projects on time and with operational excellence will accelerate our mission of building a cleaner, more resilient energy future.”

KPI Green Energy has been on a push to move to a new level of growth in the past two years, evolving considerably from an EPC firm focused on captive projects to a broader push into IPP as well as captive projects, while adding wind energy capabilities to its portfolio. Its order book is bulging with work that seems to indicate a strong growth momentum over 35% well into Fy 27 at this stage.
