Knack Energy To Boost Solar Module Manufacturing Capacity Gujarat-based solar company Knack Energy is setting its sights on expanding its footprint in India’s solar module manufacturing sector. Having initially specialized in producing EVA (Ethylene Vinyl Acetate), backsheet, and other key solar components, the company recently entered the solar module manufacturing space and is now gearing up for significant capacity expansion. Ravi Patel, Director of Knack Energy, is a forward-thinking entrepreneur who sees immense potential in the growing solar market. Speaking to Saur Energy, he emphasized that with rising demand for solar modules in India, coupled with strong government support, the sector presents an ideal opportunity for expansion. Aims 2 GW Solar Module Production Currently, Knack Energy operates a total solar module manufacturing capacity of 800 MW, but the company has ambitious plans for rapid growth. Not content with its existing capacity, the firm is set to add 1.2 GW of additional solar module production in the coming months. “We aim to establish Knack Energy as a leading solar module manufacturer with a total capacity of 2 GW in the next few months. Having recently commenced our 800 MW production line, we are now working on scaling up by an additional 1.2 GW within the next one to two months,” Patel told Saur Energy. Background In EVA & Backsheet Founded in 2021, Knack Energy initially focused on manufacturing EVA and backsheet. Last year, the company expanded its product range by introducing EPE (Encapsulant Polyolefin Elastomer) and POE (Polyolefin Elastomer), enhancing its offerings for the solar industry. When asked about the company’s plans to enter solar cell manufacturing, Patel acknowledged that Knack Energy is actively evaluating the possibility and may take a definitive step soon. “We are considering setting up a solar cell manufacturing line by 2026. While we are still in the assessment phase, we expect to reach a concrete decision soon,” the director of Knack Energy stated. Knack Energy Sees High Demand Patel remains highly optimistic about India’s solar industry, citing strong market demand, increasing government incentives, and a shift toward domestic solar manufacturing as key factors driving the sector’s growth. “India’s solar market is thriving. With growing domestic demand and favorable government policies, we are confident in our decision to expand and diversify to meet the evolving needs of the industry,” he concluded.
