Gensol Engineering Limited, a solar solutions company recently secured an EPC contract from NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL). This contract entails the development of 225MW-AC (Equivalent To 276 MWDc) grid-connected solar PV projects at GSECL Solar Park (Stage-III), Khavda. The project lies at the Rann of Kutch in Gujarat.

The total bid value for this project, including Operations and Maintenance (O&M) for three years, is approximately Rs. 897.47 crores, including taxes and duties. The contract between NTPC REL and Gensol Engineering Limited was formally executed last week, marking a substantial milestone for both entities in advancing renewable energy infrastructure in India.

Commenting on the development, Shilpa Urhekar, Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Solar EPC (India) at Gensol Engineering Ltd., stated, “We are thrilled to announce that we have been awarded the prestigious PV project contract by NTPC Renewable Energy Limited (NTPC REL) at GSECL SOLAR PARK (STAGE-III), located in the Rann of Kutch, Gujarat.”

All Eyes On Khavda

Earlier this year, a cement and building materials company, Ambuja Cements, commissioned and began power transmission from its 200 MW solar power project in Khavda, Gujarat. The remaining 806 MW capacity from this project is at various stages of commissioning and is expected to start transmitting in phases between March 2025 and June 2025.

On the other hand companies like Adani Energy Solutions Ltd (AESL), the transmission and distribution company of the Adani group, earlier this year completed the acquisition of the Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) of the Khavda Phase IV Part-A transmission project, after receiving a letter of intent (LOI) from REC Power Development and Consultancy Ltd.

Khavda IVA Power Transmission Ltd, a special purpose vehicle (SPV) set up by RECPDCL to evacuate 7 GW of Renewable Energy (RE) from Khavda RE park under the Phase IV Part A package, has been acquired by AESL to execute the project. The Khavda IVA transmission line, part of the National Grid, will help evacuate 7 GW of RE by connecting 765 kV double circuit lines from Khavda to Lakadia and Khavda to Bhuj (both in Gujarat) and setting up a transformation capacity of 4,500 MVA.
