KEC International, the infrastructure engineering arm of the RPG Group, has announced securing orders valued at INR 1,050 crore across various segments, including transmission, civil construction, cables, conductors, and renewable energy.
The Mumbai firm shared these updates through a stock exchange filing, highlighting diversified growth opportunities.wind energy
KEC has secured over 100 MW Balance of Plant works on a wind project in southern India, awarded by a prominent private developer. This represents KEC's initial venture into wind energy EPC, signalling its intent to capture a slice of India's rapidly expanding renewables landscape. The order positions the company to leverage its EPC strengths in this high-potential area.
Transmission and Supply Wins
In addition, the firm’s Transmission and Distribution business has captured several contracts for towers, hardware, and poles targeted at American markets, driven by accelerating power infrastructure investments, especially in North America.
With this, the cables and conductors unit landed new supply orders for assorted products in domestic and overseas destinations.
Cumulatively, these wins push KEC's year-to-date order inflow to roughly INR 19,300 crore. Vimal Kejriwal, Managing Director and CEO, noted the encouraging diversity in inflows, with the wind order as a landmark for renewables and SAE Towers contributing key tower supplies in Mexico.
Global Wind Energy
Globally, the wind energy sector, along with the solar sector, has been at the helm of the renewable transition. As per the World Wind Energy Association (WWEA) annual report for 2024 released in April 2025, total global wind capacity exceeded 1174 GW. The world saw a dramatic drop in new installed capacity outside of China: While all countries excluding China installed a total of 42,095 MW in 2023, this fell to just 34,413 MW in the year 2024, a drop of 18 percent.
The volume of the capacity added results in a global growth rate of 11.5 percent, significantly lower than in 2023, when wind capacity grew by 13 percent.
