Karnataka Bank installs 60 solar lights in Kadri Park of Mangaluru city By Saur News Bureau/ Updated On Wed, Aug 17th, 2016 Karnataka Bank Ltd as part of corporate social responsibility (CSR) activity has installed 60 solar lights in Kadri Park, Mangaluru city. The Bank installed solar lights at a cost of Rs. 18 lakh. P Jayarama Bhat, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Karnataka Bank speaking at inauguration of the the facility for park users in Mangaluru, said that the bank had announced this project during its Founders’ Day celebration. The installed solar lights at Kadri Park will save around Rs. 9,000 a month in power bill to the government said the bank. According to Jayarama Bhat the bank has spent Rs. 6 crore under the CSR during 2015-16. The bank has already paid around Rs. 3 crore for CSR activities in the first four months of 2016-17. In July this year Karnataka Bank Ltd with Manipal-based non-governmental organization Bharatiya Vikas Trust (BVT) started a solar programme to provide solar lights to students in rural areas under its corporate social responsibility (CSR) programme. Under the program the bank till date has provided solar lights to 100 houses of the students from remote rural areas of Udupi district.
