JSW Energy Signs 700 MW Solar Power Agreement with SECI JSW Energy Signs 700 MW Solar Power Agreement with SECI

JSW Renew Energy Eleven Limited, a subsidiary of JSW Energy Limited, has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited (SECI). The agreement covers the supply of 700 MW of solar energy through the Inter-State Transmission System (ISTS). This capacity was awarded under SECI’s Tranche XIII program. The power will be supplied for a period of 25 years, with a tariff set at ₹2.56 per kilowatt-hour (kWh).

The 700 MW solar project is expected to be completed within the next 24 months. This project aligns with JSW Energy’s broader strategy to increase its renewable energy portfolio. The company currently operates 7.9 GW of energy generation capacity, which includes a mix of thermal, hydro, and renewable energy sources.

JSW Energy’s goal is to increase its total operational capacity to 10 GW by the financial year 2025. To support its growing energy generation, the company has also secured 16.2 GWh of energy storage capacity through battery energy storage systems and hydro-pumped storage projects.

In addition to its current projects, JSW Energy has taken on several significant renewable energy assignments. One of its recent projects includes a 225 MW wind energy plant in Maharashtra, which was completed in 2022. Another project is the Kutehr Hydro Project in Himachal Pradesh, a 240 MW hydroelectric plant currently under construction. These projects contribute to JSW’s overall objective of enhancing its renewable energy output.

The company has set a long-term goal of reaching 20 GW of generation capacity and 40 GWh of energy storage capacity by 2030. JSW Energy is also committed to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050, aligning its operations with global clean energy targets.
