As the year comes to an end, NTPC, a Maharatna company, has announced five winners of its 1.2 GW wind-solar hybrid project (Hybrid 02) tender. NTPC awarded the project to JSP Green (Jindal Renewables), Adyant Enersol (Datta Infra), Green Prairie Energy IV (EverGreen Power), AMPIN Energy Utility, and Adani Renewables Energy Holding Twelve (Adani Green). The tender for this project was released in August this year.

The lowest tariff for this project was bid by JSP Green for a bid quantity of 350 MW at ₹3.38/kWh. Meanwhile, Adyant Enersol, Green Prairie Energy IV, and AMPIN Energy Utility won 150 MW, 200 MW, and 150 MW, respectively. They secured the project at a tariff of ₹3.44/kWh. On the other hand, Adani Renewable Energy Holding Twelve won 350 MW at ₹3.44/kWh under the bucket-filling method. These bidders will supply 1,200 MW of wind-solar hybrid power with a greenshoe option of up to 600 MW.

Previous Tender Result: A Brief Comparison

The tariff allocated for this project is lower than NTPC’s previous hybrid tenders, although the difference is well under 5%, indicating more stickiness at these rates.  In NTPC’s previous 1 GW wind-solar hybrid tender (Tranche VI), it allotted the project at the lowest tariff to Juniper at ₹3.43/unit for 150 MW, which is higher than its latest 1.2 GW hybrid tender allotment.

Other companies leading in terms of allotment were JSW Neo Energy (300 MW), O2 Power’s TEQ Green Power IX Pvt Limited (250 MW), and Datta Infra’s Adyant Enersol Private Limited with a 70 MW allotment. While Juniper recorded the lowest bid at ₹3.43/unit, the rest bid at ₹3.45/unit to win. Avaada Energy got 230 MW for ₹3.46/kWh.

NTPC’s latest tender result also saw some repeat winners like Adani Renewable Energy, Green Prairie Energy III (EverGreen), and Adyant Enersol (Datta Infra) from previous hybrid projects. This project was awarded in October of this year.

NTPC awarded the project to five renewable project developers: Sembcorp Green Infra, Adani Renewable Energy, Green Prairie Energy III (EverGreen), Adyant Enersol (Datta Infra), and ReNew Solar. As per the auction results, Sembcorp, Adani Renewable, and ReNew Power secured projects at ₹3.29/kWh, with capacities of 300 MW, 600 MW, and 30 MW, respectively. Meanwhile, Green Prairie Energy III (EverGreen) and Adyant Enersol (Datta Infra) were awarded 200 MW and 70 MW projects at a slightly lower tariff of ₹3.28/kWh.
