JKPCL & RUVNL to Purchase Power from SJVN’s 1000 MW Solar Project

JKPCL & RUVNL to Purchase Power from SJVN’s 1000 MW Solar Project Tariff Discovered in SJVN 1.5 GW Tender Exceeds INR 4 per Kwh

CPSU SJVN has been awarded Letters of Intent for the purchase of solar power from Jammu & Kashmir Power Corporation Limited (JKPCL) and Rajasthan Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (RUVNL). While JKPCL is looking to purchase 600 MW, RUVNL will purchase 500 MW. The purchase will be at a tariff of INR 2.57 per unit from Bikaner Solar Project of 1000 MW. Solar power from the project will be as per the PPAs to be signed in future by SJVN Green Energy Limited- SGEL- a wholly owned subsidiary of SJVN.

The Bikaner Station is to be developed under CPSU scheme of at Village Bandarewala / Karnisar, Tehsil Poogal, District Bikaner, Rajasthan. The power generated by the project will be used by government entities, either directly or through DISCOMS.

The project will be commissioned by June next year and boasts an investment to the tune of INR 5491 crores. The project will generate 2455 million units in its first year and close to a total of 56838 million units over a period of 25 years. It will help curb carbon emissions of 27,85,077 tonnes.

SJVN has a strong presence in the state of Rajasthan, which entails an MoU with the Government of Rajasthan for the development of 10 GW renewable energy projects/parks. Earlier, SGEL also received a Letter of Award for a solar power project of 100 MW from Rajasthan Urja Vikas Nigam Limited. The project, to be developed in Rajasthan, has been bagged at a tariff of INR 2.62 per unit.
