JIOS Aerogel Expands Innovation Program Battery Testing Laboratory in Singapore

World’s leading silica aerogel powder manufacturer, JIOS Aerogel has announced the expansion of its innovation program in partnership with VDE Renewables and its Battery Testing Laboratory in Singapore. JIOS said that it strongly believes in the value of leveraging third-party laboratories such as that of the VDE to provide confidence to its customers and complement its extensive internal capabilities.

JIOS Aerogel is a pioneer in critical components for Li-ion battery systems that have emerged as the primary energy storage medium in the world today.

JIOS says that it is constantly testing new solutions on a weekly basis with multiple types of Li-ion battery cells for the customers’ needs ranging from electric vehicles to energy storage systems. The company says that this is where the all-new testing laboratory in Singapore will come into play.

Capitalizing On Singapore’s Innovation Potential

JIOS is of the view that Singapore has risen as a global leader in innovation and an emerging hub for cutting-edge technology in battery testing laboratory scenario and hence has become a natural choice for JIOS. As per the 2021 KPMG report, Singapore has clinched the number one position as a tech innovation hub.

The official statement of JIOS Aerogel mentions that it can leverage the robust digital infrastructure and the thriving innovation ecosystem of the city-state for testing and developing cutting-edge solutions for the Electric Vehicles and Energy Storage Systems sectors.

Dr. Stephen Hodson, Marketing and Program Director, JIOS, held, “We are excited about ongoing developments at our innovative testing lab in Singapore. The VDE testing laboratory allows us to do multiple things- from testing our thermal barrier materials that are placed between battery cells to testing multiple configurations of cells. For example, sometimes we test 2 cells, and other times a whole set of 8 cells together. This will further our stride for innovation.”

The leading manufacturer has shared that the VDE laboratory will facilitate the process of testing battery temperatures and battery voltage under varying conditions. The well-equipped laboratory will also allow comparison for their ultra-thin solutions that can vary in thickness from 1.0 – 4.0 mm. The company says that this will make it possible for JIOS Aerogel to appease battery makers, who are always on the lookout for thinnest possible, higher-performance solutions.

JIOS has recently had a Joint Venture with Armacell towards the production of Armagel aerogel blankets for insulation in the industrial and oil and gas sectors.
