Jio-bp To Set Up EV Charging Points At House of Hiranandani Infra

Fuel retail joint venture of Reliance Industries and bp, Jio-bp has announced a partnership with House of Hiranandani to set up electric vehicle (EV) charging points across real estate and infra properties of the group in Mumbai, Hyderabad, Chennai, and Bangalore. 

With this collaboration, Jio-bp pulse will be expanding its network to the properties of the House of Hiranandani, like Hiranandani Estate and Hiranandani Meadows in Thane. The partnership furthers Jio-bp’s strategy of making world-class EV charging facilities available to the public at affordable prices across India, according to an official statement from the firm.

Jio-bp pulse has over 150 charging points across the country and has been expanding and building fast charging stations at EV user-friendly places such as malls, restaurants, hotels, workplaces, residential societies, and public parking amongst others, the company shared.

Further, in a recent revelation by the Union Ministry of Power, the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE) stated that the southern state of Karnataka has grabbed the top position as far as electric vehicle charging stations are concerned. The data said that the state now has 5,059 EV charging stations. As per data from the Central government, Karnataka has 3.31lakh EVs and 5,059 charging stations. Delhi has 2.74lakh EVs and 1,886 charging stations, Uttar Pradesh has 7.45lakh EVs with 583 charging stations, Tamil Nadu has 2.20lakh EVs and 643 charging stations, Kerala has 1.39lakh EVs and 958 charging stations, Maharashtra has 4.15lakh vehicles and 3,079 charging stations and Rajasthan has 2.33lakh vehicles and 500 charging stations.

With a growing EV landscape across the country, Karnataka has been boasting an 8 percent adoption rate while showcasing the state’s commitment to reshaping the mobility landscape.

In other news, Toyota Motor Corporation plans to mass-produce diverse EV batteries by making  Primearth EV Energy Co., Ltd. (PEVE) with Panasonic Holdings Corporation a wholly owned subsidiary to strengthen its capabilities in mass-producing automotive batteries. The acquisition is scheduled to take place in late March.
