JinkoSolar secures three PPAs for 188 MW of solar from Mexico’s Federal Electricity Commission By Saur News Bureau/ Updated On Thu, Aug 4th, 2016 JinkoSolar, one of the top Chinese solar power firms has signed a long term PPA with Mexico’s Federal Electricity Commission (Comision Federal de Electricidad). The deal includes three solar projects that were awarded in April’s inaugural power auction. JinkoSolar, which is a Tier-1 Chinese solar company, has acquired PPA for 188 MW of solar PV capacity to be commissioned by mid-2018. All the three solar projects were awarded auctioned to JinkoSolar in April under Mexico’s inaugural long-term electricity auction, which saw 1.7 GWac of solar projects awarded at a medial PV price of 45 dollars/MWh. In total, 11 companies managed to secure contracts for a total of 18 clean energy projects that were awarded in the first tender auction. The second auction will be held in September. The three solar projects secured by JinkoSolar are for a 15-year period each, with related Clean Energy Certificates stretching to 20 years. Two of the solar projects undertaken by JinkoSolar are located in Yucatan, while the third is in Jalisco.
