JinkoSolar Leads PV Module Production, Adani Solar Among Top 10

The latest solar module manufacturing ranking released by Wood Mackenzie confirms that Chinese solar module manufacturer Jinko Solar continues to lead globally. According to the ranking, nine out of the top 13 companies are based in China.

From India, Adani Solar was the sole entrant in the top 10 rankings. Some of the leading companies on the list (in descending order) included Jinko Solar, LONGi Green Energy, JA Solar, Canadian Solar, and Trina Solar—all of which have a strong presence in China. Notably, Canadian Solar operates from both China and Canada.

Adani Solar-Only Entrant From India In Top 10

Adani Solar, the only Indian company in the ranking, secured the 6th position. The company also announced its achievement.

Wood Mackenzie evaluated manufacturers across 11 countries, covering 84% of global shipments and 68% of global production capacity. The ranking was determined based on nine key criteria, including vertical integration, financial health, capacity utilization, and manufacturing experience.

Exhaustive Global Manufacturing Analysis 

Wood Mackenzie, discussing its latest report, stated: “This report is an extended Module manufacturer ranking report that provides insights and information not only on the top 10 suppliers but for all 36 suppliers that we evaluated in the rank of the top 30 that appeared in our ranking. Wood Mackenzie has released a comprehensive ranking of global solar PV module manufacturers based on unique scoring criteria,” it said.

The report further highlighted that more than 60 solar PV module manufacturers were assessed using vendor surveys, public filings, proprietary databases, and extensive discussions with manufacturers.

“The ranking utilises a unique scoring methodology that examines nine different criteria including module manufacturing experience, vertical integration, financial performance, capacity utilization, and more. This ranking and associated research will provide suppliers, partners, and stakeholders with crucial information to make strategic procurement decisions in this fast-paced market,” it said.
