Jharkhand: DVC Opens Bid To Build 234 MW Floating Solar Project Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) recently released a tender to build a 234 MW grid-tied floating solar PV (FSPV) plant. This project is located on DVC’s Maithon Dam Reservoir at Maithon Jharkhand. The project included a 10-year comprehensive Operations and Maintenance (O&M). The last date for bid submission is 7th January 2025. The DVC tender said that the project developer with prior experience in floating solar would be preferred. These firms need to have expertise and experience in starting ground-mounted or floating solar projects. DVC said that these firms needed to have an experience of commissioning at least 100 MW of these projects. Timeline for project Out of which at least two plants should have been of 10MW (AC) or higher capacity. The reference plants of 10 MW (AC) or higher capacity must have been in successful operation for at least six (6) months before the last date of submission of the bid. DVC has allotted 18 months to complete the project (i.e. 547 days) from the date of placement of LOA (i.e. Zero Date). The contractor is also required to furnish the performance security within 21 days from the date of issuance of the Letter of Award. The average annual turnover of the bidder for the last three financial years can be a minimum of Rs 408,38,46,332/- The Approved Models and Manufacturers of Solar Photovoltaic Modules approved cells and modules approved by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) are applicable for this tender. The bidder with prior experience in developing ground-mounted/Floating SPV-based grid-connected power plants of 10 MW (AC) or higher capacity should be a single plant at a single location developed by the bidder for itself or any other client. DVC’s tryst with renewables DVC, a government entity has now increased developing solar projects across the country. Headquartered in Kolkata, the company has now started investing in conventional solar projects. It is also extending its arm to invest in floating solar projects and other green energy projects. It is mainly investing in green energy projects in Jharkhand and West Bengal. As per the latest information from the Central Electricity Authority (CEA), DVC has a total of 3.23 GW of installed capacity, This comprises 3 GW of electricity coming from coal-fired thermal capacity and 186 MW of hydro power.
