The Renewable Energy arm of Jakson Group, Jakson Green has announced that it signed its first Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Rajasthan Urja Vikas Nigam Limited (RUVNL) for a 100 MW solar photovoltaic (PV) plant in Rajasthan. The group won the bid through a competitive bidding process, securing the 100 MW project at a tariff of INR 2.61/unit.

As per the media statement, the project will be commissioned within 18 months from the date of signing the PPA. Jakson Green further stated, “This landmark project marks a significant milestone for Jakson Green, solidifying its position as a key Independent Power Producer (IPP) in India’s rapidly expanding renewable energy sector”.

Commenting on the partnership, Kannan Krishnan, Joint Managing Director of Jakson Green Private Limited, said, “We are thrilled to partner with RUVNL on this landmark project. This plant which will indeed be developed by Jakson Green, is expected to generate clean electricity for over 80,000 households annually and eliminate 187,578 MT/year of carbon emissions., claims the company.

Last month, Jakson Green Private Limited and Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) announced the formation of a Joint Venture that will explore opportunities in solar power projects in India and abroad. Under the joint venture, RVNL will hold a 49% stake in the green clean energy project, while a majority stake of 51% will be held by Jakson Green (JGPL), said a statement.

According to MNRE data, Rajasthan has commissioned the largest projects of about 3065 MW out of sanctioned projects of 9568 MW for 10 parks followed by Andhra Pradesh. The state-wise data, as shared by the minister, claimed that some of the western Indian states, like Rajasthan and Gujarat, took the lion’s share in hosting solar parks.
