Electric vehicle manufacturer iVOOMi Energy has announced fresh plans for expansion of its electric two wheeler business in India. iVOOMi has said that it will be investing Rs 200 crore in a new manufacturing unit at Pune. The company will also enhance research and development (R&D) in the segment. iVoomi E-scooter The company is a electric two-wheeler start-up based in Maharashtra. The official release of iVOOMi says that the new factory is set to be a fully-integrated e-two wheeler facility, which will be in operation starting March 2023. The new facility will add more than 60,000 vehicles to the production capacity of iVOOMi and take it from 1.8 lakh units a year to 2.4 lakhs. The EV maker wants to roll out over 2 lakh units by the end of this financial year. Therefore, we will focus on more R&D and business expansion to make a significant development by the end of this financial year.” The company says that new facility will also provide direct employment to about 2000 people including the locals. iVOOMi informed that it maintains an R&D unit based in Pune. The company presently manufactures 500 electric scooters every day in its factories based in Noida, Pune, and Ahmednagar. The company claims to design and manufacture lithium-ion batteries in-house. iVOOMi held that it looks to step up the battery performance in its EVs while also scaling up the in-house design and production capabilities for the batteries. Its Jeet scooters are available with swappable battery pack of 1.5kW and Jeet Pro comes with 2kW. iVOOMi is about to launch i1 and Jeet X scooters.
