Istanbul Stadium Enters Record Books For 4.2 MW Solar Capacity

Istanbul’s Ali Sami Yen Sports Complex Nef Stadium has entered the Guinness Book of World Records for ‘ the most powerful solar power output from a sports stadium”, with the completion of a 4.2 MW installation by Energisa Enerji, a leading power distributor in the retail sector in Turkey.

Helping manage all that power are 36 pieces of GoodWe’s 120 kW HT series inverters.

These string inverters have proven to be very dependable performers in projects worldwide, and being selected for the prestigious project at Ali Sami complex will be a feather in the cap certainly.  The utility scale inverter is one of the key offerings from GoodWe for the utility scale sector and large C&I projects, with the firm hoping that such visible projects will help in winning projects all round the world.

Ersin Esentürk, Deputy Chairman of the Enerjisa Customer Solutions Inc., said “As Enerjisa, we continue to bring our technology and sustainability-oriented products together with our customers under the umbrella of “Energy of My Business”. In this context, our priority is to contribute to our country, our customers and our nature. I would like to state that we are pleased to work with GoodWe as the inverter supplier of the project, while signing one of the most important collaborations with Galatasaray, which I think will have a multiplier effect in the sector. I wish that our agreement will be beneficial for Enerjisa, GoodWe and our country.”

“The reliability and quality of our products are of primary importance for us. We are proud to be able to supply our high-quality solar system inverters to one of the leading energy solution providers in Turkey and thus further advance the energy transition,” said Ron Shen, VP International Sales & Services at GoodWe.

Sports stadiums, with their large areas, rooftops and location make for prime candidates for rooftop solar addition, as we have seen in India too. The well funded BCCI has taken the lead in this case, with the Brabourne stadium in Mumbai currently having the highest solar capacity of 820 kW in India. Bengaluru’s Chinnaswamy stadum with its 400 kW solar set up in 2015,  is in fact the first ‘solar’ cricket stadium in the world.
