INOX Solar Secures Land For 4.8 GW Cell, Module Facility in Odisha By Chitrika Grover/ Updated On Tue, Apr 8th, 2025 INOX Solar, a subsidiary of Inox Clean Energy, will set up a 4.8 GW solar cell and 4.8 GW solar module manufacturing facility in Dhenkanal, Odisha. The project, backed by the state government, is expected to create more than 3,400 jobs and support India’s target of 500 GW of non-fossil fuel capacity by 2030. Earlier, Indian module manufacturer Waaree Energies also picked the Dhenkanal district for the construction of solar cell, wafer and ingot manufacturing. Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi met with industry leaders in New Delhi as part of efforts to boost investment in the state. The government received investment proposals worth ₹30,595 crore with a job creation potential of around 48,390 positions, according to the Chief Minister’s Office (CMO). On this occasion, Executive Director of INOXGFL, Devansh Jain said, “We are honored to partner with the Odisha government in their mission to promote energy and aid the Prime Minister’s Vision of transforming India into a clean energy hub. This strategic land allocation allows us to expand our solar energy footprint, reinforcing our commitment to India’s clean energy goal. By leveraging our expertise in renewable energy, we aim to deliver world-class manufacturing solutions that empower businesses and communities alike.” Odisha Chief Minister, Mohan Charan Majhi said, “This investment aligns with our dream of transforming Odisha into a green energy powerhouse. By facilitating the establishment of a solar cells and module manufacturing plant, we are not only promoting sustainable industrial growth but also creating new jobs opportunities and boosting economic development across states.” Companies Eyeing Expansion In Odisha Earlier this year, Inox Solar secured a Rs. 4,000 crore investment in Odisha to establish a state-of-the-art 4.8 GW solar module and photovoltaic cell manufacturing unit in Dhenkanal. “This project, which has received HLCA approval, is set to generate 3,400 jobs, driving sustainable development and empowering local communities. The Odisha government has approved significant investment plans from leading solar companies, solidifying its position as a rising hub for solar cell manufacturing in India after Gujarat. This comes after several solar companies have already shown their interest in investing in the state for solar cell manufacturing. At a recent High-Level Clearance Authority (HLCA) meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, the state granted approval for four solar companies to establish cell manufacturing facilities in the state. State approvals for four firms Other companies that have received approval from the Odisha government for setting up solar cell and solar module manufacturing approved by the state panel are —Grew Energy, Jakson Engineers, Saatvik Solar, and Jupiter International. These firms are set to invest heavily in the coastal state.
