Indus Towers Plans To Foray Into EV Charging Infrastructure Space Indus Towers, a telecom tower infrastructure provider, has decided to explore business opportunities in the Electric Vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure sector. The company received approval from its Board of Directors to proceed, subject to a prudential framework. This comes after the firm already tried its hands on the same through some pilot projects. Indus Towers said in a regulatory filing, “It has already launched pilot EV charging stations in Gurugram and Bengaluru. The company is well-positioned to contribute to the EV charging infrastructure sector by leveraging its expertise in managing and providing space, power, and operations and maintenance (O&M) for seamless operation and efficiency. This aligns with the Indus Tower plan to supplement its long-term growth through relevant adjacent business opportunities.” Quarterly Report on Solar Investment In its quarterly report for the third quarter (Q3) and nine months ended December 31, 2024, Indus Towers shared its outlook on future revenues and cash flows. The company highlighted its assured revenue streams and key competitive strengths. The Indus Towers quarterly report also emphasized the evaluation and adoption of other green alternatives such as fuel cells and wind turbines. Some notable initiatives include: As of December 31, 2024, the company operates approximately 28,550 solar-powered sites across its network on a consolidated basis. These systems help reduce noise and emissions from diesel generator (DG) sets, lowering diesel dependency and contributing to better energy security. The solar systems are integrated with the Indus Tower Operating Centre for real-time monitoring and optimized efficiency. The company has installed solar systems at non-EB (non-electricity board) sites in challenging terrains, such as Leh — the “Solar Roof of India” — reducing carbon emissions and operating expenses (Opex).
