India’s Largest Floating Solar Power Plant Set to Be Commissioned By Saur News Bureau/ Updated On Fri, Dec 1st, 2017 The project with 500 kWp (Kilowatt peak) initiated on March 10, 2016, is the biggest Floating Solar Power Plant the country will have. The Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) is set to commission India’s largest Floating Solar Power Plant to be built on the Banasura Sagar Dam at Padinharethara in Wayanad district. The commissioning will be announced by the Electricity Misnister M.M. Mani at the scheduled time of 3 p.m., dated on December 4, 2017. The commissioning will be a strategic move to promote the utilization of non-conventional sources of energy in order to fight the power catastrophe. A loan of Rs. 2.25 crore from NABARD and Rs. 7 crore from the state government’s Innovation Fund will be used by the KSEB totaling to Rs. 9.25 crore targeted to generate 7.5 million lakh units of power per year. The plant will be set up on 54,450 sq ft of reservoir area, having 1,938 solar panels, each with a capacity of 260 Watts, has been installed on 18 unique and indigenously developed floating structures, P.
