India’s Biggest Data Center Player NTT India to Power Data Centres with Solar Power By Saur News Bureau/ Updated On Mon, Dec 12th, 2022 Highlights : The construction of information and communications infrastructures, such as data centers, submarine cable landing stations, solar parks, and cloud computing capacity, will cost about $2 billion over the next three to four years, according to NTT India, a top provider of tech and business solutions to clients. The NTT Group, the biggest data center player in India a global leader in offering people, customers, and communities technology and business solutions. The firm has said it will employ power from solar energy to maintain its environmental goals. The firm boasts of $108 billion in revenue and over 330,000 workers throughout more than 80 countries and regions. Regarding renewables, the company representative stated that NTT India would install 350 MW of solar energy because its data centers’ power requirements are predicted to reach 400 MW in a few years. In Maharashtra, the firm already has roughly 100 MW of installed solar power, and has made 350 MW worth of deals with other solar power firms, according to the MD & Senior EVP (Global Data Centers & Marine Cables), Sharad Sanghi. Recently, PubMatic, an independent technology company said that all of its global data centers are now powered by 100% renewable energy. PubMatic claims it to be a significant milestone and says that it embarks on a comprehensive, multi-pronged sustainability plan by the end of 2022. Additionally, last year (2021), AES Corporation signed a 15-year agreement with tech company Microsoft to support the company in achieving its 100/100/0 by 2030 goal. Microsoft, one of the world’s largest purchasers of renewable energy, will use the around-the-clock renewable energy provided through this agreement to power its data centers located in Virginia.
