Green Stocks April 23: Waaree Energies All The Way

We have been stressing how it will be news that drives stocks for now, and Waaree Energies served up the best possible illustration of this thesis. In delivering the set of Q4 numbers and full year numbers for FY 25, the firm provided great validation of its prospects, leading to a massive surge today. That surge was powered even further by a guidance of an 80% growth in EBITDA for Fy26 from the company management, further strengthening the bull case for the firm. With fresh manufacturing capacity to be set up in the US, besides commissioning of capacities here in India, Waaree it would seem is unstoppable for the next few quarters.

Waaree’s strong surge was enough to pull along the other key solar manufacturer Premier Energies that rose over 4%, while group EPC firm Waaree Renewable Technologies Limited also went up in the tailwind. On the other hand, Gensol’s descent to stock purgatory continued with the stock crashing past the Rs 100 barrier today, a far cry from its journey to over Rs 800 levels now so long ago. Here’s hoping its experience will have a salutary impact on governance at other firms as well.

The varying movements in the other stocks in the pack indicates just how important Q4 results will be to decide future direction. While strong order books are a given for now, the market is looking more at execution speed to see if those orders will amount to much. Thus, larger EPC firms like Sterling and Wilson Renewable energy have seen a return of interest, based on their ability and past record.

But overall, it has to be said that the past is almost priced in for all the firms in the pack, and in a volatile world, the present will increasingly hold sway over distant future prospects
