As the markets celebrated yet another day of relative peace from the Trump White House, green stocks continued their recovery apace. Stocks like Waaree Renewable Technologies, which has announced its results tomorrow, made a particularly strong run up on expectations that an early announcement presages strong results, WRTL needs it, as it has been among the most beaten down from its highs, if we ignore the unfortunate situation at Gensol.

For investors waiting on the sidelines, this period remains a time of heightened risk, as it would be foolhardy to say the markets are out of the woods. Yes, valuations are a lot more ‘normal’, but external disruptions continue to loom. Even as many see India as a bright spot in this period of turmoil, it is not easy to bet against India’s ability to miss opportunities. For now, the clearest gain at a macro level is lower oil prices, which of course will not be transmitted to consumers in the economy, considering the government’s clear position on keeping consumer prices linked to an effective price of about $75/barrel of crude.

That leaves us with the risks inherent to any business with a high dependence on China, and for now, at least, China seems to be in an accommodating mood vis-a-vis India, considering its struggles on the US front. That will reassure investors, but hardly guarantees a period of tranquility on the business front.
