India Crossed 11 GW of Solar Installations in First Six Months of FY 22-23 By Saur News Bureau/ Updated On Fri, Oct 14th, 2022 Highlights : In September 2022, India added 1511.2 MW, and in the wind energy segment, India added 461.4 MW of power. Comparing it with what India added in August, we can see a month-on-month growth in solar energy by 13.71%. While in the wind energy segment, 48.19% month-on-month growth can be seen. The renewable energy capacity data for September is out. Let’s have a look at how much solar capacity India created in September and compare it with data from 2021 and the same months from 2022. In both the segments, India added more power in comparison to September month of the year 2021. Solar energy growth is around 127% while wind energy growth is around 157%. M-o-M 2022 Comparison 233 GW of Additional Transmission Capacity Mooted By 2030 Also Read In September 2022, the solar energy capacity added was 1511.2 MW while in August 2022, it was 1328.92 MW. This translates to an increase of over 13%. In September 2022, the wind energy capacity stood at 461.4 MW. In August 2022, it was 311.35 MW. This marks a growth of over 48%. Comparative analysis August 2021, 2022 Solar Capacity Additions Continue to Slow Down, July 2022 Records Barely 270 MW Also Read Comparing it with what India added in August, we can see a month-on-month drop in solar energy by over 20%. While in the wind energy segment, there is a substantial month-on-month growth. Q3 comparisons If we see the Q3 of CY-2022 and Q2 of FY 2022-23 (Jul-Sept) India added 3108.2 MW in solar energy. In comparison to Q3 of 2021, we can see a 21% Y-o-Y decline. But in the case of wind energy, the scenario is different. In the Q3 of 2022, India added 878.05 MW of wind energy, in comparison to Q3 of 2021, we can see a Y-o-Y growth of 128.7%. H1 comparisons 2021, 2022 Now if we look at the first half (H1) of FY-22, India added 6817.63 MW in solar energy. In comparison to the first half (H1) of FY-21, this is a 10% growth. In the case of wind energy, India added 1308.5 MW of power in H1 of FY-22 which is 109% higher than what India added in H1 of FY-21. Although India has missed its 2022 target, these numbers reflects that India may have to potential for achieving its 2030 RE target. Apart from this, there are some following major solar projects tenders floated in last few days of October: Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam (GUVNL) floated a tender to purchase power from 600 MW of grid-connected solar power projects at the Khavda Solar Park, Gujarat. Uttar Pradesh New & Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA) invited bids for 50 MW (Cumulative Capacity) of grid-connected rooftop solar projects. Neyveli Lignite Corporation Limited (NLC) India invited bids for the setting up of a 300 MW (tender) grid-connected solar power project at Barsingsar, Rajasthan. Public-private partnership firm, INKEL Ltd. floated a tender for the supply of a 14 MW capacity wind energy plant in Palakkad district, Kerala. Satluj Jal Vidyut Nigam (SJVN) Green Energy published a tender for the operation and maintenance of a 70 MW capacity (AC). Bundelkhand Saur Urja Limited (BSUL) invited bids for the “Engagement of an expert consultant for providing PMC services to Bundelkhand Saur Urja Limited for implementation of Jalaun Solar Park 1200 MW”. Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd. (MSEDCL) invited bids for 500 MW of the procurement of power on a long-term basis.
