(DIAL) on Tuesday announced that it has upgraded the solar power plant’s capacity by over three times-. DIAL has enhanced the current solar power generation capacity at the IGI Airport from 2.14 MW to 7.84 MW, making the airport largely dependent on green energy as the power generated from the solar plant is expected to support the IGI airport operations. “Aligning with the vision of PM Narendra Modi to harness solar energy to fight climate change, we aim to increase our solar power generation capacity to 20 MW by 2020,” said I. Prabhakara Rao, CEO of Delhi International Airport Ltd. DIAL has utilized the green field area of the Airside without hindering or compromising on safety operation. The company has installed non-reflective PV solar panels at the plant to avoid glare effect. It carried out computer-aided solar glare analysis for a year to ensure there was no impact on flight movement.
