The US arm of Spanish multinational electric utility firm Iberdrola, Avangrid, has commenced the establishment of a 240 MW True North solar plant being set up in Falls County, Texas. With the True North project, Avangrid will mark its entry into the solar farm initiative in Texas.
The unit under construction will provide clean energy to power Meta, the American multinational technology conglomerate that owns Facebook. The True North project will power all of its operations in the area.
Meta has been augmenting efforts towards renewable energy since 2020 to power its operations worldwide. The said facility from the Iberdrola arm will help Meta get access to clean energy in the upcoming data center in Temple City. This will be the second data center for Meta in Texas.

The US arm of Iberdrola already has a stronghold in Texas, where it boasts over 1,250 MW of capacity from onshore wind facilities.
