IB Solar Seeks A Share of Solar EPC In 2025

Noida-based solar manufacturing firm IB Solar is set to enter into the solar EPC business as well in 2025. With a firm focus on government backed solar EPC projects at MW scale, IB solar has formed a new venture: “IB Solar Infra Developers Pvt. Ltd.”for its planned EPC business.

Coupled with its plans to take its Module capacity to 1.8 GW by as early as July this year, the firm is looking to offer vertically integrated solutions for government projects. Starting with a manufacturing capacity of 90 MW in 2015, the firm expanded to 500 MW in 2023, and now seeks to build on its experience with the expansion to 1.8 GW and EPC work.

The expansion is more obvious than it seems considering the firm’s product portfolio that already includes besides solar modules, solar inverters, solar tubular batteries  and of course, a presence in the ALMM list.

Promoted by Suresh Kumar Mahajan in 1992, the firm has established a strong distribution network to ensure a strong presence in markets. Its associated distributors/ Channel partners and leading EPC players are based in Delhi-NCR, Haryana, U.P., Punjab, J&K, Uttarakhand, M.P., Rajasthan, Jharkhand . The firm claims it is maintaining good tie-ups with Government/ Public sector bodies for Solar projects such as -Installation and commissioning of Solar Street Lights, Solar Home Lights, Solar Power Plants.

IB Solar’s entry into EPC work directly is of course not without precedent, as most of India’s leading solar firms have experimented with, or still run EPC firms as well. In fact, a recent trend has been the entry of developers into manufacturing as well, be it ReNew Energy Global or Avaada or Acme Solar Holdings. While the moves have been driven by policy changes, it remains to be seen if this integrated model survives the market dynamics in the next few years.
