Hy2gen, Technip Energies Begin Feasibility Studies On Renewable Fuels By Saur News Bureau/ Updated On Wed, Aug 17th, 2022 Highlights : Hy2gen AG has commissioned Technip Energies to do the feasibility studies with the BioTfueL technology. Hy2gen will employ the BioTfueL technology on an industrial-scale for the production of renewable fuels like green paraffin and green diesel from wood. Germany based company Hy2gen, which builds and operates plants for green hydrogen production and France based Technip Energies- a leading provider of services for low carbon energy market, have said that they are launching the feasibility studies phase for the Hynovera project in Meyreuil, Bouches-du-Rhône, France. The project aims to produce renewable fuels for aviation and maritime use on an industrial-scale. Hy2gen AG has commissioned Technip Energies to do the feasibility studies with the BioTfueL technology. Hy2gen AG claims to be a hydrogen and renewable fuels production specialist. The Hynovera project will be developed with an investment of €460 million and will be located on the site of a closed coal-based power plant that also signifies the just energy transition. It said that it will be one of the first in the world to do so. The BioTfueL technology helps in production of renewable fuels like green paraffin and green diesel from wood collected from ecologically-managed forests. Further, for optimal conversion of biomass into green fuels, Hy2gen and Technip Energies will amalgamate the BioTfueL process with an electrolyser for the production of green hydrogen from renewable energy. The electrolyser will have a capacity of 85 – 120 MW. As per the official statement of Hy2gen, Technip Energies will design the plant and integrate the multiple technological building blocks. This project, which will contribute to building a sustainable future, illustrates our commitment to work alongside Hy2gen and fits perfectly with our strategy to develop the market for green hydrogen and its derivatives.” “With Hynovera, we will produce renewable paraffin equivalent to 10 – 15% of the consumption of an airport such as Marseille-Provence at the Centrale de Provence site, as well as 16 000 t of CO2-neutral diesel fuel and 100 000 tpy of renewable methanol, both of which are clean fuels for shipping,” stated Cyril Dufau-Sansot, CEO, Hy2gen AG.
