Oriano Solar, a Mumbai-based Solar Power Development and EPC company, has launched one of the largest captive solar projects under the C&I Segment in Chhattisgarh. The project’s first phase, with a capacity of 70 MWp, was put into service on August 6, 2022, and its overall capacity is 172 MWp. The solar power plant has been evacuated at 132 kV. By January 2023, balance capacity is anticipated to be fully operational.

The captive solar plant is a 50 MW (AC)/70 MW (DC) project that is situated in the Indian state of Chhattisgarh’s Kakrel, Nawagaon, and Baigatola villages.

The 540 Wp mono-perc photovoltaic modules used in the captive solar plant’s 70 MWp construction are half cut cell technology, and 100% of the system’s components are being considered for the Make in India Initiative, including solar inverters made by Toshiba-Mitsubishi (TMEIC). The project is being constructed in a captive mode with Godawari Power & Ispat Limited consuming all of the power internally.

With a turnkey scope that includes CREDA approval, land due diligence, EPC with design, engineering, module selection, 132 kV switchyard, operation, and maintenance for five years, Oriano has completed the project.

“During the height of the COVID period, Oriano commissioned this big capacity open access captive solar project. The pattern shows our keen focus on fast project delivery and our portfolio offering of development, EPC, and O&M. It also strengthens Oriano’s resolve to use a strategic strategy and operational excellence to guide India’s transition to a greener future.

Earlier, Oriano Solar began constructing 350+ MWp of utility-scale solar projects across various states in the country. With those projects, the construction engineering company had more than Rs 300 crore contracts in hand.
