Haryana’s JC Bose University To Have Solar Energy Plant By April 2021 By Saur News Bureau/ Updated On Mon, Dec 14th, 2020 The campus of JC Bose University, Faridabad, Haryana would be operating completely on solar energy by mid-2021, as the institute has signed an agreement with a solar company for the installation of a grid-connected rooftop solar power plant. As a result, the university will completely work on solar energy from April 2021. At SaurEnergy we have already covered many other institutes with large campuses that have gone for solar energy, across the country. It is a welcome development, and a true win-win for all concerned. In fact, while it has been happening at its own speed so far, there is a strong case for the government to mandate all government-supported campuses with over 5 acres of the total area to have solar plants now. With a long term plan to expand this to schools too. In April 2018, Jamia Millia Islamia University saved around Rs 1 crore in energy costs annually by installing a 2.5 MW solar rooftop plant commissioned by SunSource Energy. Later in July 2018, the National University of Study and Research in Law (NUSRL), Jharkhand became the first law university in the country to utilize solar energy to light up the campus spread over 63 acres. Later in August 2018, the girls and boys hostel was also connected with solar energy. Also in early this year, Chhajuram Memorial Jat College, Haryana announced the installation of a 30 kW solar plant at its campus. It was inaugurated by deputy CM Dushyant Chautala. JC Bose University has gone with M/s Jyotikiran Energy Mumbai Private Limited, a special purpose vehicle of M/s Sunsource Energy Private Limited, Noida, with the agreement signed by its registrar Sunil Kumar Garg. According to the agreement, grid-connected rooftop SPV power plants of 266 KW capacity would be installed at the university by the company, in collaboration with the Department of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and Haryana Renewable Energy Development Agency (HREDA).
