Haryana to Provide Solar Based Tubewells to Farmers By Zulkarnain/ Updated On Sat, May 5th, 2018 “Under this scheme, six lakh tubewells in the State would be linked with solar energy. The farmers would be able to utilize the solar energy as per the requirement and also sell the surplus power available with them. This would help them earn income.” Haryana Government is contemplating to provide solar-based tubewells to farmers of the state. The implementation of the scheme will benefit farmers as they would be able to generate electricity and earn money as well. Haryana Finance Minister Captain Abhimanyu, while addressing a press conference after the meeting with 15th Finance Commission said, “Under this scheme, six lakh tubewells in the State would be linked with solar energy. The farmers would be able to utilize the solar energy as per the requirement and also sell the surplus power available with them. This would help them earn income.” He further added, “The aim of the scheme is to make the farmer producer besides the consumer. The power subsidy of Rs. 7000 crore to be given under this scheme would also be borne by the state government. This scheme would be finalized soon,” he added.
