Juniper & Solarcraft Win 50 MW, EDF & ACME Pokharan 100 MW Each in GUVNL 300 MW Wind Auction

In the fresh auction by Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam (GUVNL) for the power supply of 300-MW grid connected wind energy projects, Juniper Green Energy, WYN Renewables, EDF Renewables, ACME Pokharan Solar and Solarcraft Power India have emerged as winners. As per the results by GUVNL of the Phase-IV wind energy projects, the players also have a greenshoe option of additional 300 MW.

The tender for the green energy supply was floated by GUVNL on October 18, 2022. In the auctions, Juniper Green Energy secured 50 MW quoted bid of Rs 2.91/kWh. EDF Renewables won 100MW by quoting Rs. 3/kWh. Similarly, ACME Pokharan Solar secured 100 MW by quoting Rs. 3.01/kW

Delhi based Solarcraft Power India secured 50 MW at a quotation of Rs 3.01/kWh. GUVNL said that the firm secured 50 MW out of the quoted capacity of 100 MW through the bucket-filling method.

The tender document holds that GUVNL may enter into PPA with successful bidders for a period of 25 years from the scheduled commercial operation date of the project or date of full commissioning of the project, whichever is earlier.

In order to ensure that quality systems are installed, the type certified wind turbine models listed in Revised List of Models and Manufacturers (RLMM) of Wind Turbines prepared by MNRE will only be allowed. Only commercially established and operational technologies can be used to minimize the technology risk and to achieve the timely commissioning of the Projects.

The projects shall be located at the locations chosen by the Bidders anywhere in India at its own discretion of cost, risk and responsibility.

GUVNL said that a wind energy project, through a dedicated transmission line, shall be interconnected with the state transmission utility or central transmission utility substation. The green electricity will be delivered to the Gujarat Energy Transmission Corporation (GETCO).

During the signing of PPA with GUVNL, the successful players will have to declare the annual capacity utilization factor (CUF) of their projects. Also, the CUF will be revised once in the first three years from the date of commercial operation of the wind projects.

GUVNL also said that the CUF must not be less than 22%. The successful bidders are required to maintain generation to achieve annual CUF within +20% and -20% band of the declared CUF during the 25 years of PPA.
