Gujarat Tops in Terms of Approved Solar Power Generation Capacity By Anirudh Sharma/ Updated On Wed, Aug 8th, 2018 The approval of the solar energy capacity is to be generated at three solar parks namely Dholera, Radhanesada and Harshad. Gujarat state has topped another category of the renewable energy segment. It has been declared the state with the highest approved solar power generation capacity at various solar parks. Out of over 26,000 MW of solar power capacity approved at 45 solar parks across 22 states, Gujarat has received the approval of development of solar energy capacity of 6,200 MW by the nodal MNRE. The approval of the solar energy capacity is to be generated at three solar parks namely Dholera, Radhanesada and Harshad. Each one of the solar park is assigned solar energy capacities of 5000 MW, 700 MW and 500 MW respectively. Following Gujarat is Rajasthan with approved capacity of 4331 MW, Andhra Pradesh with 4160 MW of solar power capacity. The government claims to invest more in the renewables sector because of the solar potential of the state. Chairman-elect, Global Solar Council said, “Dholera will be a very good location for the park as the government is giving a lot of importance to the project. However, the government should provide power evacuation facility on priority basis.” Meanwhile, the solar industry players uphold the dissent over the ambiguous GST norms over the solar sector and the implications of the safeguard duty on solar imports from China and Malaysia.
