View of The Rooftop Solar Plant At Pune A recent data from the Lok Sabha on Residential Rooftop Solar Systems indicated that India had garnered a total of 2.1 GW of solar power through the residential rooftop solar scheme of the Union government in Phase II of the programme. MNRE Minister RK Singh shared the data during his written reply before the House. The data claimed that under Phase II of the scheme, the government had allocated 3,370 MW of solar power capacity under the residential rooftop segment. Under this, till July 30, 2023, the country achieved the installation of 2,117 MW of solar power under CFA (Central Financial Assistance). It also claimed that around 90.53 MW of the installed capacity came from the simplified national portal. The details claimed that Gujarat was the frontrunner in this race. As per the given data, Gujarat tops with 1,710.41 (1.7 GW) solar power installation under the residential rooftop solar scheme (Phase-II). It is followed by–Kerala (133 MW), Rajasthan (44.64 MW) and Haryana (38.8 MW). In his response, he further elaborated that the ongoing rooftop solar project phase II of the rooftop solar programme is based on the proposals from implementing agencies (IAs)/DISCOMs. He said that MNRE allocates the capacity to the IAs/DISCOMs to implement rooftop solar projects in the residential sector. The Rooftop Solar Programme is specifically for residential consumers. A consumer can avail of the scheme’s benefit either through DISCOM tendered projects or the National Portal.
