Gujarat, Maharashtra Top In PM-KUSUM (Comp-C): Data Gujarat, Maharashtra Top In PM-KUSUM (Comp-C): Data

The latest government data revealed that Gujarat and Maharashtra topped the list under Component C of the PM-KUSUM scheme. The scheme is aimed at solarising existing agricultural pumps and feeders. Minister of State (MoS) for New and Renewable Energy Shripad Yesso Naik recently submitted data on the scheme’s implementation in a written reply to the parliament.

The data revealed that 80,845 tubewells were installed under Component-C across the country. Out of this, Gujarat and Maharashtra, recorded the highest installations, with 25,527 and 31,428 pumps, respectively. Other states, such as Madhya Pradesh (7,417), Kerala (7,293), Rajasthan (4,697), Uttar Pradesh (2,000), and Karnataka (1,713), also saw significant installations.

This development comes at a time when Gujarat saw a decline in funding under the PM-KUSUM scheme from ₹28.72 crores to ₹5.15 crore till FY 2024–25 (till October), while Uttar Pradesh’s funding fell from ₹92.13 crores to ₹35.46 crores. On the other hand, Maharashtra saw an increase in funding from ₹330.21 crore in FY 2023–24 to ₹741.81 crore during this period.

Component-C enables the solarisation of grid-connected agriculture pumps under its individual pump solarisation (IPS) mode and feeder-level solarisation (FLS) of agricultural load. This scheme focuses on Component-C, which aims for the solarisation of 35 lakh existing grid-connected agriculture pumps, either individually or through FLS.

The government data revealed that Haryana installed 1,36,572 tubewells out of the sanctioned 1,97,655, while Maharashtra installed 1,97,863 out of the sanctioned 5,05,000 tubewells. Punjab added 12,952 out of the sanctioned 53,000 tubewells. On the other hand, Rajasthan saw the installation of 85,635 tubewells out of the sanctioned 2,12,914.
