According to the latest parliamentary data, Gujarat saw the maximum growth in rooftop solar registrations, followed by Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh. The shared data revealed that Gujarat reported installing 281,769 MW of rooftop solar projects out of 310,845 applications received. Maharashtra installed 120,696 projects, while Uttar Pradesh installed 51,313 rooftop projects out of 481,206 and 534,529 applications, respectively. The government data also revealed a stark contrast between the applications received for installing solar projects and the actual installations. While Gujarat appears to be the only state on the list to meet most of its set target, achieving 310,845 rooftop solar installations, another state that came close to its target is Kerala, which installed 51,301 projects, nearing the completion of its target of 85,316 projects. Punjab is another state worth mentioning, having installed 3,506 projects out of its target of 9,608 projects. In contrast, most northeastern states made the slowest progress. For instance, Arunachal Pradesh recorded no installations. Solar Installation Achieved Under PM-Surya Ghar Scheme Pace is still picking up however, with many PSU’s entrusted with specific state clusters only getting their act together now. Going ahead, expect a strong show from states like Tamil Nadu and Karnataka, besides a definite uptick in the North East as well. PSUs have been designated as Scheme Implementation Partners (SIPs).
