Gujarat Received Highest Central Aid Under Rooftop Solar Scheme: RK Singh By Chitrika Grover/ Updated On Fri, Dec 8th, 2023 Highlights : Latest Parliament data said that Gujarat received the highest of Rs 2,213 crore as CFA under the rooftop solar scheme. The data was furnished by Union Minister RK Singh in Lok Sabha in a written reply. Gujarat Received Highest Central Aid Under Rooftop Scheme: RK Singh Union Minister for New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) RK Singh furnished state-wise data of disbursement of Central Financial Assistance (CFA) to different Indian states under the Rooftop Solar Scheme-II. The written statement furnished by the minister claimed that Gujarat remained the highest beneficiary under the scheme by procuring the highest funds under the scheme to boost deployment of solar rooftops. Under the rooftop solar scheme, the state grants the subsidies to solar rooftop consumers with the funds it receives from the MNRE. The scheme does not obligate the states to disburse funds as subsidy to the states. However, they are at liberty to provide any subsidy/CFA that they use for such projects in addition to MNRE’s CFA. As per the details, Gujarat received the highest of Rs 2,213 crore as CFA under the scheme. It was followed by Kerala which received the highest of 189 crore and Rajasthan with Rs 51.8 crore. The minister elaborated that the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) is implementing the Rooftop Solar (RTS) Program Phase II, wherein, Central Financial Assistance (CFA) is given to the consumers of RTS in the residential sector.The CFA admissible for general category states is Rs. 14,588/kW for the first 3 kW of RTS capacity and Rs. 7294/kW for RTS capacity beyond 3 kW and up to 10 kW. For special category states (North-eastern states including Sikkim, Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh, UT of Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Lakshadweep, and Andaman & Nicobar Islands), the admissible CFA is Rs. 17662/kW for the first 3 kW of RTS capacity and Rs. 8831/kW for RTS capacity beyond 3 kW and up to 10 kW.The Resident Welfare Associations/Group Housing Societies (RWA/GHS) are also eligible to avail CFA for RTS installation in common facilities, up to a maximum of 500 kW capacity. The CFA admissible for RWA/GHS is Rs. 7294/kW in general category states and Rs. 8831/kW in special category states.It mentions that the total CFA/subsidy released under Phase-II of the Rooftop Solar Program as of November 30, 2023, will be 2,900.1.
