Green Jobs: Goldi Solar, Suzlon Announce Plans To Skill Workforce By Saur News Bureau/ Updated On Tue, Jan 7th, 2025 Solar Jobs: Goldi Solar, 3 Institutes Tie Up For Skilling Workforce Two Indian renewable energy companies-Goldi Solar and Suzlon Energy have now announced their plans to skill the workforce for green jobs. Indian solar module manufacturer Goldi Solar has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with SN Patel Institute of Technology, R. N. G. Patel Institute of Technology, and UKA Tarsadia University for training the future workforce for solar jobs. On the other hand, in a another development, Suzlon Group has signed an MoU with the Andhra Pradesh State Skill Development Corporation (APSSDC) to launch India’s largest green skill development program to enhance green jobs and bridge the employability gap in the renewable sector in India. Suzlon’s Programme Suzlon’s program aims to create a future-ready workforce by increasing green job opportunities and addressing the skill gap in renewable energy. Over the next four years, the program will offer training to 12,000 youth, including at least 3,000 women, in specialised areas of wind power manufacturing, such as Electrical, Mechanical, Blade Technology, Material Management, Operations & Maintenance, and Land & Liasoning. Furthermore, Suzlon will create a structured curriculum for ITI, Diploma, and degree engineering colleges and forge university partnerships to integrate globally recognised content and advanced research in the wind energy industry. Nara Lokesh, Andhra Pradesh Minister for IT & Human Resources Development, said, “Our goal is to create 2 million local jobs in the next 5 years, fostering enterprise development, self-employment, and increased income for economically disadvantaged families, which will play a crucial role in building a ‘Viksit Andhra Pradesh.’ This program will help a lot of underserved families and contribute to strengthening India’s talent position in the renewable energy sector.”’ Goldi Solar’s Skilling Programme Goldi Solar said that the partnership with the three institutions aims to create a skilled workforce to support India’s renewable energy ambitions by training over 600 final-year students. The initiative will focus on developing industry-ready talent in disciplines like Electrical, Mechanical, and Electronics & Communication Engineering, as well as MBA programs. Under these MoUs, Goldi Solar will offer specialized certification courses, spanning three months, in solar module manufacturing. Students will gain hands-on experience through industrial visits to the company’s facilities in Navsari, Pipodara, and its new Kosamba plant. “Tailored programs will provide in-depth training in solar technology, installation, and maintenance, complemented by collaborative research projects between students and faculty to foster innovation in renewable energy solutions. Goldi Solar’s Navsari plant, equipped with a dedicated training facility, will serve as a hub for technical collaborations with the partnering institutes and the university,” Goldi Solar said in a media statement. Internships & Placements Goldi Solar said that the module maker will also offer internships and placement facilities to the students. “The partnership goes beyond training, with Goldi Solar offering internships and job placements to final-year students. Skilled graduates will also have opportunities to join Goldi Solar’s workforce, supporting the company’s growing operations. The company plans to expand its offerings with more industry-focused courses and specialized training programs to ensure sustained skill development,” the company said. Speaking on the MoU signing, Capt. Through this collaboration, we aim to build a robust workforce equipped with industry-relevant skills, fostering innovation and contributing to nation-building.” India’s renewable energy sector faces a projected shortfall of 1.2 million skilled workers, with demand expected to grow by 26% by 2027. Emerging areas such as cell manufacturing, battery storage, and advanced grid integration require an additional 1.7 million skilled professionals.
