Odisha government’s State-Level Single Window Clearance Authority has sanctioned 22 projects valued at Rs 4,066.71 Crore. These projects were approved in the 129th meeting of the State Level Single Window Clearance Authority meeting chaired by Odisha Chief Secretary Pradeep Jena.
The new projects span various sectors, including Green Energy Equipment, Chemical, Textiles and Apparel, Steel, Iron & Ferro Alloys, Aluminium Downstream, Food Processing, Power & Renewable Energy, IT Infra, Infrastructure & Logistics with a focus on the green and renewable energy sector.
According to an official statement, Waaree Clean Energy Solutions Pvt Limited will be building its Electrolyser Manufacturing Plant in Khordha, with a project cost of Rs. 435 crore, promising 300 potential job opportunities.
Further, Hindalco Industries Limited will be investing Rs 200 crore in solar PV power in Koraput while Adani Total Energies Biomass Limited plans to venture into compressed biogas production in Sambalpur worth Rs 136.5 crore. Meanwhile, Tata Steel Limited will be setting up Rs 125.69 crore towards a 22 MW Solar PV Power Plant in Sundergarh.
Apart from this, the Odisha Renewable Energy Development Agency (OREDA) has now planned to boost the penetration of decentralised renewable energy (DRE) systems in the state capital of Bhubaneswar. The coastal state, known for recurrent cyclones, has made special provisions to ensure extreme weather event-resilient solar structures and uninterrupted power supplies. The state has already witnessed the expansion of solar trees and solar-powered water kiosks in the solar city of Konark in the Puri district. OREDA has now planned to replicate the same model in Bhubaneswar too. As per the plan, OREDA wants to deploy 24 solar water kiosks, 22 solar trees, and 88 solar street lights under this tender. This comes at a time when the state government has put a thrust on boosting the penetration of solar energy in the city.
After a spree of cyclones, Odisha has been focussing on creating more climate-resilient infrastructure, including in the electricity segment, to avert the damage these cyclones can cause to the power systems.
