Government will soon issue quality order on purchase of solar modules by power companies: Piyush Goyal

Will give six to nine month time to solar module and cell manufacturers to improve their manufacturing before coming up with a similar quality order

Power, coal, renewable energy and mines minister Piyush Goyal recently said that the government will soon issue a quality order on purchase of solar modules by power companies.

The minister at an event organized by FICCI said “Will soon issue a quality order on solar modules. It will apply to all future auctions,” he further added “ We will give six to nine month time to solar module and cell manufacturers to improve their manufacturing before coming up with a similar quality order.

“In a couple of years, we will put quality order on solar wafers. I want the entire value chain to come under quality orders,” said Goyal to ET.
