Govt. has formulated Wind Solar Hybrid Policy to Strengthen Energy Security of India: Piyush Goyal By Saur News Bureau/ Updated On Tue, Aug 2nd, 2016 Power, Coal, New & Renewable Energy and Mines Minister- Piyush Goyal in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha said that the Government has formulated draft National Wind-Solar Hybrid Policy to Strengthen Energy Security of India. The objective of the policy is to provide a framework for promotion of large grid connected wind-solar PV system for optimal and efficient utilization of transmission infrastructure and land, reducing the variability in renewable power generation and thus achieving better grid stability. Further, the Policy aims to encourage new technologies, methods and way-outs involving combined operation of wind and solar PV plants. The Minister said that hybrid of two technologies- solar and wind would help in minimizing the variability apart from optimally utilizing the infrastructure including land and transmission system and thus strengthen the energy security of the country.
