In a bid to target 182.5 MW photovoltaic (PV) projects, Germany is now waiting for companies to submit their bids in its second solar tender this year. According to the Germany’s Federal Network Agency, or the Bundesnetzagetur, the deadline for the companies to submit their proposals is June 1, and the cap for submitting their bids has been set at EUR 0.0884 ($ 0.1086) per kWh. The new projects will be allowed in less-favorable areas on farmable and grasslands. The chosen areas are Bavaria and Baden-Wuerttemberg. According to Bundesnetzagetur, the annual quotas for the two states have not been exhausted yet. Also, surcharges for up to 96.55 MW and 20 MW of projects will be available for Baden-Wuerttemberg and Bavaria, respectively. There was a steep decline in the average solar prices in the country. At the time of completion of lasted tenders in 2017, the average price slipped below EUR 0.05/kWh for the first time. Similarly, in the October tenders, the winning bids for the 222 MW ranged from EUR 0.0429/kWh to EUR 0.0506.
