GERC Notifies Gujarat Power Tariffs For Fy23, No Hikes For Consumers By Saur News Bureau/ Updated On Mon, Apr 3rd, 2023 Highlights : Power tariffs in the critical industrial state have been considered high, but with dependable supplies. The move comes even as MERC in neighbouring Maharashtra decided to increase tariffs marginally in the state, and significantly in the Mumbai region The Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission has issued a note detailing the GERC Tariff Orders for Truing up for FY 2021-22 and Determination of Tariff for FY 2023-24. The exercise is done after State-Owned utilities and other Distribution Licensees of the State have filed the petitions for truing up of FY 2021-22 and determination of Tariff for FY 2023-24. Based on the petitions, public hearings were held on 28th February, 1st and 2nd March 2023. Several stakeholders including individuals and organisations participated in the hearings, according to the GERC. Important highlights of these Tariff Orders are as under-. No changes in scheduled tariff rates for the consumers of State owned Discoms and Torrent Power Limited (Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, and Surat areas). Existing mechanism for FPPPA (Fuel Price Purchase Price Adjustment) charges continued. GETCO transmission charges increased from existing rate of Rs. 4047.60 per MW per Day to Rs. 4113.16 per MW per Day for the FY23 Transmission Charge for Short Term Users is approved as 37.94 Paise per unit for FY 2023-24. SLDC charges are approved as Rs. 4019 Lakh for FY 2023-24. For Open Access consumers, Distribution losses in kind for HT network of State Owned Discoms is reduced from 10% to 9.50%. The actual distribution losses as reported by utilities for FY 2021-22 except PGVCL are lower than the target given by the Commission. For State Owned Discoms, for the FY 2023-24, the Commission has approved power purchase cost at Rs. 5.22 per unit and the Base FPPPA charges as Rs. 2.64. For Torrent Power Limited, for the FY 2023-24, the Commission has approved power purchase cost at Rs. 5.55 per unit and the Base FPPPA for Ahmedabad-Gandhinagar area is approved at Rs.2.71 per unit and for Surat area approved at Rs. 2.17 per unit.
