Georgia Public Service Commission (GPSC) approved Renewable Energy Development Initiative (REDI) got another boost as Georgia Power has invited bids for more than 100 MW of new solar distributed generation (DG) projects. Georgia Power is procuring eligible projects that will range from 1- kW installations up to 3-MW solar farms. The company has invited interested players to review the terms of the RFP and to submit detailed projects by August 15. “We are committed to developing cost-effective renewable resources through a competitive bidding process that continues to evolve and improve based on our experience. Renewable energy is thriving in Georgia and we are excited to begin receiving, reviewing and selecting new projects that provide the most value to our customers,” said Wilson Mallard, Director of Renewable Development for Georgia Power. The participants are given option to make bids under programs other than REDI like Georgia Power Community Solar and Simple Solar. Both the programs earn the participants a bill credit of some amount over generation. As the development continues, Georgia Power aims to add up to 1600 MW of additional renewable capacity by the end of the year 2021.
