GE Renewable Bags Over 2GW Onshore Wind Orders in US Till May By Manu Tayal/ Updated On Tue, May 21st, 2019 As per the orders received, the company will supply 728 turbines in the US which will power more than 800,000 homes. In a major boost, GE Renewable Energy, a USD 15 Billion company, has received significant onshore wind orders from North America for 2,010 MW (2 GW approx.) till May, this year. As per the orders received, the company will supply 728 turbines in the US which will power more than 800,000 homes. Currently, General Electric arm has over 26,000 turbines running in the US. Out of the total turbine orders received, the company has got majority orders for it’s best-selling 2 MW product platform, which is likely to have over 15 GW installed capacity by the end of this year. Commenting on the orders secured, GE Renewable Energy, CEO, Americas Onshore Wind, Vikas Anand said, “We are delighted to partner with both new and long-time customers to bring affordable, clean renewable energy to more homes and communities across the country.” Anand further added that, “This is a time of unprecedented growth and demand for the onshore wind industry in the US, and we are proud to offer technology and service offerings that meet the specific needs of our customers.” Moreover, the company claimed that it’s 2 MW fleet operates at an industry-leading average of 98+ per cent availability. Last Year, the company was recognised as top wind turbine maker in the US by American Wind Energy Association (AWEA), with supplying more than 3 GW capacity, 40 per cent of total onshore wind installed across the country.
