Future Solar Plans 4 GW Module Capacity, Eyes Cell Production By Manish Kumar/ Updated On Thu, Mar 27th, 2025 Future Solar Plans 4 GW Module Capacity, Eyes Cell Production Indian solar module manufacturer Future Solar, which started its journey in the market barely a year back, is now planning to diversify its business and augment its capacity. In an interaction with Saur Energy, the management of the firm highlighted the expansion plans of the firm. The Gujarat-based company now has plans to boost its solar module manufacturing plant, foray into solar cell manufacturing, start its own EPC arm and also try its hands in in-house Aluminium frame production Sanket Bhatia, GM of Sales and Marketing at Future Solar, shared insights on the company’s growth plans in an exclusive conversation with Saur Energy. “We have a current production capacity of 572 MW per annum as per ALMM, and we are fully booked until March,” Bhatia revealed. He added that the company initially produced mono-PERC solar cells but has now transitioned entirely to Topcon. “The whole market is moving towards Topcon, and we have a clear roadmap aligned with this technology,” he said. Scaling Up Production Capacity Future Solar is in the process of ramping up its capacity, with a 4 GW per annum facility in the works. “The machines have already started arriving, and by the end of May or June this year, we will begin production,” Bhatia confirmed. The company is also working on a 2 GW solar cell line, with project scrutiny and execution progressing as planned. Discussing the complexity of solar cell production, Bhatia explained, “Module manufacturing is an engineering-driven assembly of different components, where quality is key. But in solar cells, the process is far more complex, requiring stringent hygiene and precise chemical processing. It goes beyond engineering.” He further noted that stabilizing a solar cell production line requires extensive R&D and can take up to 1.5 years in the market. “Line stabilization takes time, and we are prepared for that challenge,” he stated. Expansion Plans and Future Strategy To accommodate future growth, Future Solar has spare land in Gujarat and is exploring other potential locations for expansion. “We will take a phased approach to solar cell production, starting with 1 GW and later adding another 1 GW,” Bhatia said. On the business front, the company has no immediate plans for an IPO, given its relatively young presence in the industry. “We are a one-year-old company, so an IPO is not in our current roadmap, but we may consider it in the future,” he mentioned. Future Solar is also looking to diversify into EPC services for IPP projects and explore aluminum frame production, with a 2 GW capacity under initial discussions. However, the company has not yet ventured into DCR panel production, remaining focused on developers and the commercial & industrial (C&I) segment. With its aggressive expansion strategy and commitment to Topcon technology, Future Solar is positioning itself as a key player in India’s evolving solar manufacturing ecosystem.
