Friends Salt Works & Allied Industries Installs New Solar Power Plant in Bhavnagar

Friends Group, a vertically integrated firm which is one of the leading salt producers and exporters, recently installed 4 MW of solar project in Asarana, Bhavnagar. Waaree Energies, a leading PV module manufacturer, will supply polycrystalline solar modules of 335 WP to Friends Group. The installation is collectively expected to generate over 5.8 million units of electricity, potentially mitigating over 10 lakh tonnes of carbon emission.

We have been exploring different avenues and business models for using renewable energy to promote sustainable business growth. This step has been taken to increase the proportion of renewable energy usage in its operations.”

Waaree Energies will also supply polycrystalline modules of 335 Wp to Kandla Agro & Chemicals– a part of Friends Group, which boasts of more than 20 lakh square feet of dry cargo warehousing capacity and cumulative renewable power generation capacity of more than 100 MW. The business found its roots in the acumen of three enterprising families, who in 1984 joined hands to form a conglomerate of shipping solutions. Today, the Kandla based Friends group is a name to reckon with in the business world. The group marks a prominent presence not only in all port related activities, but also in export of several key products to clients across the world.
