The fifth PPE2 auction, which is France’s multi-year energy procurement programme, was slightly oversubscribed at a capacity of 931.3 MW, exceeding the target set at 925 MW. The average cost at which the projects were awarded stood at €86.94/MWh. The firms that received over 50% of the total volume in unison included Calyce, TTR, JPEE, Voltalia, Abowind, RWE, Vent du Nord, Engie Green, Ostwind. The round saw a cumulative of 101 applications that represented an aggregate capacity of 1603.91 MW. The fourth round of the French PPE2 auction saw about 173 MW of solar projects being selected in the recent tenders entailing rooftop commercial and industrial (C&I) as well as ground-mounted capacity. The said round of the PPE2 auction witnessed winning bids standing at a cumulative of 58 MW for rooftop C&I installations. The projects were awarded at an average price of EUR 104.52 (USD 115.7) per MWh. This is a surge from EUR 90.91/MWh awarded in the preceding edition. The French PPE2 tender model promises contracts for a capacity of nearly 29 GW through 2026. It replaces the CRE4 programme, which concluded in year 2021.
