APDCL Issues RFS for Engagement of Consultant for Wind Power Project

Fichtner Consulting Engineers has bagged a consultancy contract awarded by APDCL (Assam Power Distribution Company) through competitive bidding. The firm will be responsible for coming up with a detailed project report for a 1 GW grid-connected solar project to be established in Assam in Karbi Anglong area. The Asian Development Bank will provide funding for the project’s development via the “Mukhya Mantri Sauro Shakti Prokolpo” program.

The estimated cost of the project is INR 4000 cr. The project timeline is December, 2023.

Five participants had bid for the project. These included Tractebel Engineering, which is a renowned engineering and consulting services provider in the areas of energy, water and infrastructure.

APDCL had floated the tender in November, 2022.

The scope of services include study, investigation & preparation of the report of the available characteristics of land topography, soil & subsoil environment, ambient conditions, and water, and also prepare a detailed master plan to suit the requirement of the solar power project (of indicated capacity), complete with all the infrastructure facilities including solar PV module, mounting structure, PCU, transformer, road, drainage, street lighting, water storage tanks & along with water main distribution network, power evacuation network, sewage disposal network along with treatment plant for water (if required).

H Subramaniam, Executive Director, Fichtner Consulting Engineers, tells Saur Energy International, “We have participated in competitive bidding in tenders floated by RUVNL, GUNVL along with participation in tenders for large renewable energy parks.” Speaking about the firm’s current projects, he says, “We have two large projects in Gujarat and other projects spread pan India. We are undertaking solar, solar-wind hybrid projects, BESS and green hydrogen projects.” Among the firm’s biggest projects are a 2.4 GW solar project in Gujarat, a 3000 tonnes per day green ammonia project in Gujarat. The firm has undertaken projects with capacity close to 10 GW.

Earlier, in March 2023, APDCL had invited bids for the selection of solar power developers for the development of a 10 MW solar project.
